UIP in this age group is almost unheard of. The treatment option we were left with was to start LF with systemic cortico-steroids. Oral Prednisone 2mg/kg/day was begun and his O2 requirement came down to 2 L/min. Subsequently, he was pulsed with methylprednisolone 30mg/kg/day and his O2 requirement came down again to 1.5 L/min.
LF was sent home in stable condition to come back for follow-up after 8 weeks, but at that time his O2 requirement were at 6-8 L/min.
