Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia of Bochdalek (Posterolateral)

– Incidence: 1 per 2,400 live births
– 85-95% cases left side
– Mortality rate: 40%
– Winnipeg: 40% (associated with complex defects) or 25% (isolated CDH)
– Alberta with ECMO: 10-15%
– Mean acute care cost per survivor (1995) $ 98,000 - $ 365,000 with ECMO
