FINAL DIAGNOSIS

Echinococcus granulosus pulmonary cyst

POST-OPERATIVE COURSE

The young boy made an uneventful recovery. He had abdominal imaging (Ultrasound) to rule out liver cysts, which was entirely normal.

He was treated with Albendazole.

Of note, Echinococcal titres were obtained, and ELISA was negative.

FOLLOW-UP

He was seen in follow-up in both Surgery and Infectious Disease Clinic 3 weeks following surgery. He was doing very well, but his Grandmother admitted that their compliance with medication was very poor.

WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND FOR FOLLOW-UP INVESTIGATIONS?
