Mrs. Jo-Anne Mainwood is married with two children, and she is an intermediate grade 7/8 teacher. She was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension in the fall of 2009 after several misdiagnoses and after being admitted to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for symptoms of cardiac disease. Through the support of the Pulmonary Hypertension clinic and the excellent care she received from her respirologist, Dr. George Chandy, and primary care nurse, Carolyn Cox-Doyle, a life-altering diagnosis has been manageable.
