While the COVID-19 pandemic has been associated with a marked decrease in asthma-related emergency department visits and hospitalizations, the impact of the pandemic and of a SARS-CoV-2 infection on asthma symptoms control has not been documented. Furthermore, the changes in health resource use during the pandemic, including regular follow-ups for asthma and pulmonary function testing, have not been well documented. We aimed to assess these outcomes in children with asthma in two studies using a patient-centred approach.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on asthma exacerbations in children; and
  • Describe the impact of a SARS-CoV-2 infection on asthma control in children.
