The successful candidate is expected to have completed training in adult Respirology and subspecialty training in Sleep Medicine. Pediatric Respirologist

This position is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, comprising of approximately 50% time for clinical service and 50% time for academic pursuits divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).
The successful applicant will join seven academic pediatric respirologists providing a full spectrum of clinical respiratory medicine services. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a fully accredited Pediatric Respirology subspecialty-training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a pediatric sleep subspecialty-training program. There are numerous trainees (undergraduate and postgraduate students, residents and clinical/research fellows) that rotate through the Division each academic year. The candidate must be eligible for an appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The physician will foster excellence in clinical Respirology with a focus on management of respiratory complications in cancer patients and Interventional Pulmonology. The candidate must be skilled in Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and pleural disease diagnostics and management. The successful candidate will be expected to clinically cover call on the General Respirology inpatient consult service as well as actively participate in both General Respirology and Cancer specific ambulatory clinics.

Clinical Faculty Position

The Division of Respirology in the Department of Pediatrics at Dalhousie University and the IWK Health Centre is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) physician at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. The Division of Paediatric Respirology provides a comprehensive ambulatory and in-patient service to a population of about 1.5 million in southwestern Ontario. CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre with Principle Investigator Francine Ducharme
Funded postdoctoral fellowship in clinical epidemiology applied to oscillometry and pediatric
asthma. Dr. Ducharme’s clinical laboratory tests several instruments and oscillometry techniques applicable to children aged 1 to 17 years old. Indeed, asthma guidelines recommend periodically assessing lung function (i.e., spirometry) in children to properly adjust the treatment. Now, for the vast majority of children with asthma, doctors do not use spirometry, because of insufficient cooperation in young children and/or lack of access. An interesting alternative is the use of oscillometry performed in spontaneous breathing, which is effortlessly for the child, using portable devices newly (or in the process of being marketed) in Canada. This research program aims to provide reliable, valid, and accessible measurements of lung function in children at the doctor’s office.
